A solid debut for The Help wasn't enough to knock Rise of the Planet of the Apes from the top spot at the box office for a second consecutive week.
The action-packed blockbuster starring James Franco and Freida Pinto, earned $27.5 million in its second weekend, bringing its total to $105 million.
The Help, based on the best-selling novel and costarring Viola Davis, came in second with $25.5 million, bringing its five day total to $35.4 million.
The horror flick Final Destination 5 debuted in third place with $18.4 million, followed by The Smurfs (which premiered July 29) with $13.5 million.
30 Minutes or Less, the screwball comedy co-starring Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari, debuted this weekend in fifth place with $13 million.
The weekend's biggest letdown was Fox's Glee: The 3D Concert Movie, which debuted at No. 11 with a modest $5.7 million in total earnings.
